Micromedex Configuration and Usage

Overview #

toxiCALL® supports the configuration of multiple data data sources, including connectivity to Internet and Intranet connections. The selected data source can be changed while performing a lookup during case entry. In addition to Micromedex, toxiCALL® supports a growing number of data sources.

During the configuration of Micromedex, you will require the UserName and Password provided by Micromedex.

Configuration is only required once for your each database, e.g. testing, production, training. The configuration will be available to all users of toxiCALL® and toxiWEB®.

During configuration, you will be able to configure usage of the internal toxiCALL® browser, or point to a browser of your choosing like Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc. This allows toxiCALL® to provide the widest range of flexibility in your environment.

Configuration #

Using the left Menu Bar, expand the Product Management Section then click on Product Lookup Source.

A tab will open showing the list of existing Product Lookups already configured.

From the Home Ribbon Bar menu, select “New Product Lookup Source”

Micromedex Details #

Next, you will configure the required Micromedex details as shown in the image below.

  1. Type the name you would like to call the Lookup Source
  2. Type the User Name for your Micromedex Login Account, and leave it blank if using IP Authentication.
  3. Type the Password for your Micromedex Login Account, and leave it blank if using IP Authentication.
  4. Type the time, in minutes, to automatically close a Micromedex Search Lookup Window. Enter 0 if you do not want to close the window automatically.
  5. Select HCS Version WS as the Micromedex Lookup Source.
  6. If you would like toxiCALL® to use an external browser, you can point to the browser EXE file. If Blank, the toxiCALL® browser lookup will be used.
    • e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe

After completing the Product Lookup details, Save and proceed to testing.

Testing #

Testing is performed within a case entry form. This can be done even while the configuration window is open but after the changes have been saved. However, it will be necessary to open a new case entry form if this is a new Product Lookup Source, rather than changes to an existing one.

From the Home Ribbon Menu, select New Case, from the New dropdown icon.
