TLS 1.0, 1.2 or SSL Error on connection

If your servers are being upgraded to remote TLS 1.0, we have found that some clients needed to make a change to the SQL connection provider when switching from TLS 1.0 to TLS 1.2. This is done manually in the SQL Connection string for toxiCALL®.

If you find that you are getting an SSL error when connecting to one of the databases, you should adjust the provider information with the details below:

Old: Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;

New: Provider=SQLNCLI11;

Here are the areas to check when updating the provider information:

  1. The toxicall.ini file, typically located in:
    1. C:\Program Files (x86)\CAS\Toxicall
  2. Manually change the Archive location for all archive databases:
    1. Close all case windows and the search window
    2. Select ToolsàSystem TablesàUser System Tables
    3. Select Database Configuration then select View
    4. Locate each of your archive databases and manually make the change. Do not use the 3-dot lookup as it will restore the previous connection provider.
  3. toxiCALL® Convert Notes
    1. Connection details are shown in the configuration area
  4. toxiCALL® Data Analysis
    1. Connection details are shown in the configuration area
